Can you take expired cough syrup with Codeine? I have a bad cold with a bad cough that's keeping me up at night, a while ago I was prescribed cough syrup with Codeine and it really helped. I have some now that expired 7/01/05 and was wondering if it was safe to take. The name on the bottle is APAP/Codeine.

It has an expiration date for a reason, and in 4 years you could get some protein compound decay, resulting in some nasty toxins... not a good Idea, especially mixing with other drugs... at best it will kill you quickly."

can police open box without warrant? I have a friend of mine who was recently arrested after picking up a box at UPS for someone else. The package was not addressed to him nor did it bear his name. The cops did not even know what it contained and asked him what was in it several times before opening the box without warrant or probable cause. I believe they became suspicious after the original receiver phoned UPS several times asking about delivery status of said package. Is that probable cause? Do they have to have a warrant to open box which they do not know the contents of? What can my friend do to get these charges dismissed? The police said it contained codeine cough syrup. This is without any lab testing. Is this legal? okay. I just called my friend and he said it went like this. He says he received a call from someone he has been knowing saying they had a package delivered by ups to his house which he missed due to not being able to take his lunch at the regular time so he called ups to have them hold the package for pick up. They said they would. His friend then asked him if he could pick it up for him and hold it until he got off work. He said okay and went to pick it up. The counter person retrieved the package and brought it to him. He signed for the package and walked out. The police then executed their sting. The fact that he called checking so much is what tipped them off. Is that really probable cause?
